Krista stepped into my studio yesterday and it was immediately clear this session needed to be stripped right back. No distractions. No excess. Just pregnancy captured in its most striking form. Strength, confidence, and quiet presence.
This maternity shoot was intentionally led in a different direction to my usual work. I wanted to create something cleaner, bolder, and more refined. Monochrome felt like the only best direction! Black and white imagery removes the noise and allows emotion, shape, and connection to take centre stage. Every line becomes deliberate. Every moment feels grounded.
Krista was the perfect woman for this style of maternity photography.
She carries herself with an ease and confidence that does not need embellishment. Calm, assured, unapologetically herself. That energy translated beautifully through a minimalist approach, allowing her pregnancy to be the focus rather than the styling around it.

These monochrome maternity images are simple by design. Styling is minimal. Light is carefully sculpted. The focus is entirely on the woman and the life she is growing.
A woman goes through a special transition as she steps into her new self during pregnancy and my maternity sessions reflect that transformation.
All props and wardrobe are provided for maternity sessions in my Cheshire studio, although they are intentionally understated. Every piece is chosen to enhance the image, not distract from it. Nothing fussy. Nothing that will date. Just clean, elegant simplicity.
