Hello, I’m Lisa

I grew up in Cheshire, did a stint in Scotland and Manchester for university, then came back, married my husband and had my two boys – I went full circle it seems! Rufus arrived first, and with him came a diagnosis of achondroplasia that changed everything about how I thought our life would look. I needed to leave teaching. I needed something flexible, something I could shape around him and whatever he needed. And somewhere in the middle of all that uncertainty, I found my way back to the thing I’d always loved most.

Photography.

I’d always had a passion for it, but I’d never quite believed it could be a career. Turns out necessity is a brilliant motivator. I threw myself into it completely and I haven’t looked back once.

Ten years later, Little Primrose Photography is something I’m genuinely proud of. A fine art newborn and family photography studio in Sandbach, where I work with one family at a time, obsess over every detail, and create images that feel like heirlooms from the moment you see them.

I think my background in art runs through everything I do. I sketch and paint as often as I can, usually daily, and the way I think about light, colour, composition and texture in my photography comes directly from that. My studio setups are built the way a painter builds a canvas. The palette comes first, then the layers. Rich colours grounded by natural materials, handmade outfits, fine wool, raw cotton, real flowers from the garden. Nothing generic, nothing repeated. Every session is its own piece of work.

I spend a lot of time in that garden too, which probably explains the obsession with botanicals and the slightly unhinged prop collection. There’s something about growing things, about patience and colour and watching something beautiful come together slowly, that feels very connected to what I do in the studio.

I’ve been named a Master Craftsman in Newborn Photography by the Guild of Photographers, the highest qualification of its kind in the UK, and I’ve won Newborn and Maternity Photographer of the Year. I share this not to show off, but because I know how much trust you’re placing in someone when you book a newborn session, and you deserve to know exactly who you’re walking through the door to meet.

Rufus is doing brilliantly, by the way. He and his brother Kit keep me very firmly grounded in real family life, which I think makes me better at photographing it.

If my work feels like it could be yours, I’d love to hear from you.
