Natural newborn photography in Cheshire
My work has evolved gradually over time. While beautifully styled newborn portraits are still very much part of what I do, I’ve found myself placing more emphasis on images that feel quieter and more instinctive, both for families and for babies on their own. I LOVE my studio… a quiet, tidy space where I can control every aspect from light and colours to props and poses and as a perfectionist, this feeds my soul. But in a world where AI is leading the way, images that are more REAL are becoming my favourites… Shots where there are more snuggles than classic poses and more love and connection than smiles at the camera.
When a newborn enters the family, often your home becomes a chaotic place, it’s often at a time when you’ve also just moved house or you’re in the middle of decorating – not everyone has perfectly curated, minimalist bedrooms! So my relaxed posing in a studio setting is a reassuring combination for most.

Relaxed newborn portraits that follow your baby’s lead
Alongside more traditional newborn portraits, I now encourage a gentler approach when photographing babies on their own. Rather than guiding every movement, I allow your baby to settle into positions that feel comfortable and natural for them.
Some babies love to curl up, others prefer to stretch out. Some rest peacefully, while others remain quietly alert, taking everything in. Instead of forcing a baby into a pose that doesn’t suit them, I work with what they offer in that moment.
The result is a collection of images that feel honest and individual. Photographs that reflect your baby exactly as they were in those early days, rather than how they were positioned.

Relaxed family portraits in my Sandbach studio
Family portraits during a newborn session aren’t always about looking at the camera or holding a pose. They’re about how you naturally come together as a family during those first days.
Although everything is photographed in my Sandbach studio, the experience doesn’t feel formal. I’ll gently guide you into comfortable positions, then step back and allow things to unfold. A hand resting on your baby’s back without thinking. The way one of you leans in while the other watches. Parents often apologise for moving or adjusting their baby, and it’s always those instinctive moments that create the most meaningful images.
Nothing needs to be perfect. Babies wriggle, parents shift, and that’s exactly how it should be.

A calm, thoughtful approach to newborn photography
The studio is designed to feel calm and welcoming, both for you and for your baby. Sessions are unhurried, with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and settling. Some of the most beautiful images happen just after a feed, when your baby feels heavy and relaxed in your arms, or during the quiet pause while everyone waits for them to drift off again.
Every element you see in your images, from colour choices to textures, is considered carefully. That structure allows the session itself to feel relaxed, and it’s often what parents comment on afterwards. Many say it feels more like a day at a baby spa than a photoshoot.

Family and newborn photographs that grow with you
The family and newborn images created during your session sit naturally alongside one another. Together, they form a complete record of this fleeting stage, not just how your baby looked, but how it felt to be there with them.
These are photographs that combine connection with artistry… My photography skills, props, backdrops and outfits combined with your family’s story can create something you’ll walk past in your home and have to stop and appreciate for many years to come.

If you’re worried about being in the photographs
Many parents tell me they feel nervous about being photographed, especially so soon after giving birth. That feeling is completely normal.
You don’t need to know how to pose or where to look. I’ll guide you gently and keep everything simple, often asking you to do nothing more than hold your baby and breathe for a moment. Parents are often surprised when I show them the images, because what felt like an ordinary moment turns out to be quietly beautiful.
All you need to do is arrive and take things one step at a time. I’ll take care of the rest.
